Louisiana: Ooh Wee Dis Pirogue is Sunk
The Popeye’s Chicken franchises in Louisiana are some of the best in the nation. Popeye was a sailorman who retired to Lafayette in the 1940s, opening a chain of fried chicken shops with his partner and fellow cartoon character Andy Capp.
Andy Capp had a famous recipe for Hot Fries that he drunkenly spilled into the fried chicken flour. Customers responded favorably, so the recipe remains.
Andy Capp is not allowed on the premises of Popeye’s stores any more, because Popeye’s insurance guy can’t insure the building with Andy’s constant state of intoxication.
Also in Louisiana, you can visit a drive thru daiquiri shop.
The daiquiri shop is where motorists can buy shaved ice infused with corn syrup and grain alcohol. Popular flavors include Sex on the Beach, Buttery Nipple, and High Octane 101.
If you can’t afford a hotel room in the French Quarter, find a parking spot on one of many surface parking lots and shove your dollars into the slot to pay for that stall.
Then when you return drunk to your car, you can pass out in the backseat and drive when you are sober the next morning, or in some cases, the next afternoon.
